Hand Me Down Song

Hand Me Down Song was written sometime back in the 90s. It was never meant to be a “commercial product.” I liked the chord structure
and it became something I would play, every now and again, for my own amusement and to entertain friends at parties. The little piano demo here, was recorded last year and I’m presenting it now, mostly because it fits in with general theme of the rest of the original material on this site.

The song is a tribute to the people who had the most influence in shaping my creative life . . . first, my Mom and Dad who gave me the gift of words and music and then folks like Lloyd Price and Lary Williams and Wilson Picket and Chuck Berry and the hundreds of others who showed me all the wonderful ways in which the gift might be used.

In essense, every song I write or take part in writing is a hand me down song. I am just one in a long bucket brigade of singers and songwriters, transporting inspiration, down the line, from one generation to the next.
